Lawson leads Gamecocks to huge win over Ole Miss

South Carolina beat Ole Miss 79-64 in Columbia last night in a game that has established the Gamecocks as a legitimate SEC team.

This was an efficient game for the Gamecocks despite the fact that Ole Miss started out with a 13-2 lead. South Carolina came back and played one of their best games of the year.

Senior Chris Silva put up 18 points and three blocks while also making two three-pointers. Freshman Keyshawn Bryant had a comeback game with 10 points and six rebounds.

AJ Lawson was the star of the night though, with 15 points, nine rebounds and six assists. He also had an amazing dunk which was the top play of the night. Hassani Gravett also had 15 points and eight rebounds off the bench.

The key to this game was that South Carolina was able to hit their three-pointers while Ole Miss just couldn’t hit theirs. South Carolina hit 47.4 percent of their three-pointers while Ole Miss only hit 21.7 percent of theirs.

Hassani Gravett hit four out of his six three-pointers off the bench, which has established him as one of the best three-point shooters for the Gamecocks.

If I can say anything about this team, it’s that they never give up. I have never seen a Gamecock team come from behind so many times to win. They are 9-4 in the SEC and currently hold the fourth spot in the conference, which would give them a double bye in the SEC Tournament.

South Carolina will travel to Starkville to take on Mississippi State in a game that will most certainly affect their tournament hopes.
