Three Bold Predictions For Gamecocks vs. Alabama

South Carolina faces probably their toughest home opponent against Alabama tomorrow.

This game means a lot for both coaches. Muschamp needs to prove that he can beat a Top 25 team or else it could make the seat a lot hotter by the end of the season.

Nick Saban doesn’t need to do anything else to prove that he’s a legendary coach, but he has never won in Williams-Brice Stadium.

We all know Saban won’t forget about the upset in 2010 that basically put South Carolina on the map.

Here are my three bold predictions for tomorrow:

Alabama will win, South Carolina won’t lose

This is confusing when you read it, but I’m basically saying that South Carolina won’t be the reason they blow this game.

Just like Florida last year and a bunch of other games under Muschamp, South Carolina has been known to blow late leads.

South Carolina usually ends up playing a pathetic fourth quarter, and they lose games that they should win.

This is a new team with Ryan Hilinski under center. There’s going to be a lot of confidence coming off of a dominant win last week.

The difference was Muschamp had this team play to win, and before last week they would play to not lose.

It will be Alabama’s talent that wins this one.

There will be over 80 combined points

I can see this game being very similar to the 2014 Auburn game where it was just a shootout until Auburn eventually won.

Ryan Hilinski has already proved that he can throw the ball deep. This offense will score more points than most people think.

Alabama also has a beat up defense, which should help the offense overall.

Alabama’s offense will just be too much for a still young South Carolina defense.

The Gamecock defense has done a good job of stopping the run so far, but it will be way too hard to stop Tua Tagovailoa and his elite receivers.

I can see both Jaylen Waddle and Jerry Jeudy pick up 100 yards each in this game because they’re just too good.

If South Carolina can limit Najee Harris and get to Tua, there’s a shot the defense could prevail.

Kevin Harris will take the majority of carries

This is a man who had six rushes for 147 yards and three touchdowns last week.

If the Gamecocks want to wear down that defensive line, they’ll need a wrecking ball. Dowdle and Feaster have looked good, but South Carolina needs as much power as they can get to wear down that defensive line.

I expect the freshman to have an impressive performance against a tough Alabama defense.

Conclusion

There will be a lot of energy and noise in Williams-Brice tomorrow and it should be fun no matter who wins.

My only expectation is that South Carolina plays with a lot more energy than we’ve ever seen under Muschamp.

Besides, a true freshman quarterback has already beat Alabama.

I expect South Carolina to lose 45-41.
