South Carolina is coming off of an impressive 66-32 win over Wyoming where the Gamecocks allowed their fewest points ever under Frank Martin.
Cleveland State is coming off a 20 point loss to Missouri State.
South Carolina led a balanced attack which saw four players reach double digit point numbers.
They’re currently 2-0 and have yet to play a road game. They won’t play a road game until December.
The Gamecocks are still led by sophomore point guard AJ Lawson. Although he hasn’t put up any eye opening stats yet, he has a lot more help this year.
Sophomore Alonzo Frink looked solid, and junior Jair Bolden shot 75 percent from beyond the arc.
Freshman Jermaine Couisnard has also looked good off the bench.
The Gamecocks are doing all this without Keyshawn Bryant, who I was looking forward to seeing this year.
In my opinion, there is no doubt this is a NCAA tournament team.
Cleveland State is already off to a not so hot start.
They’ve won one game so far, and it was against Edinboro. They were blown out by Minnesota and Missouri State.
Although this should be an easy win, I know Frank Martin will never overlook a team.
The Vikings are led by guards Hugo Ferreira and Torrey Patton, who are averaging nine points each.
Patton is a sharpshooter who is shooting 66.7 percent and 50 percent from beyond the arc.
This should be a free win for South Carolina, but we just saw Kentucky lose to Evansville, so I’m not counting on anything.
I think this will be another low scoring affair.
South Carolina will win 51-39.
