Well, here we are.
This is the final chance for South Carolina to prove something this year. The Gamecocks are struggling more than ever while Clemson is looking to once again punch their ticket to the college football playoff.
If you’re a South Carolina fan, you probably aren’t expecting much.
The good news is that means South Carolina has nothing to lose while Clemson has everything to lose.
Here are my three bold predictions for this game:
Trevor Lawrence will throw three interceptions
Lawrence has looked really good recently, but he hasn’t gone up against a good defense since UNC.
Lawrence threw two interceptions against Georgia Tech in the season opener, and his accuracy hasn’t been amazing this year.
If South Carolina can get enough pressure on Lawrence to force him into some bad throws, that could be a game changer.
Of course, it all depends on if his receivers can bail him out again.
Ryan Hilinski will have a breakout game
When Hilinski was named the starter, everyone knew there was something special about him.
He hasn’t been putting up Heisman numbers, but he’s been solid.
Every legend has one defining moment, and I can see Hilinski having his in this game.
Let’s face it, the run game isn’t working much. Between the bad playcalling and lack of explosiveness, the run game hasn’t worked recently.
If Bryan Edwards is healthy, I can see Hilinski having a huge game at home in his first game against the Tigers.
South Carolina will keep it within seven points
Clemson has looked really good this year, but they have more weaknesses than last year.
South Carolina is relatively healthier than last year, and the game is at home.
I believe Muschamp knows the importance of competing in this game and what it means for his job.
If South Carolina was able to expose Clemson’s defense last year, they can expose them again with a healthier team.
Conclusion
This will be the toughest game for South Carolina this year, but they’ve already pulled off one huge upset.
I really do think these players will put everything they have into this game.
I know everyone is sick of being overshadowed by that upstate school. I think Clemson will still win, but I think it’ll be way closer than everyone thinks.
Clemson will win 31-27.
You have to play close to receivers to get interceptions! And we play 5 to 10 yards away especially on 3rd down!
🤣🤣🤣 this just silly.
