Former Gamecocks Star Chris Silva Gets New Deal, Secures Roster Spot With Miami Heat

Since October, former Gamecock Chris Silva has been on a two-way contract with the Miami Heat.

His two-way contract allowed him to play for the Miami Heat’s G-League affiliate while also being available for an actual roster spot.

The Heat are a highly competitive team in the Eastern Conference and in Silva’s games coming off the bench for the Heat, he proved to be a valuable asset.

Today the Miami Heat posted University of South Carolina alum, officially announcing his standard NBA contract.

The Heat have signed Silva to a multi-year contract filling the final roster spot for the team.

Chris Silva is averaging 3.5 points, and 3 rebounds per game while shooting 69% from the field in his average 8 minutes of play.

Silva looks to make an impact of this playoff contending team and to help push them on top of the Eastern Conference.

Hearing word about Silvas contract possibility, University of South Carolina coach Frank Martin said “I’m ecstatic, no one deserves it more than Chris because of how much he cares, the human being he is, the amount of work he’s put in and how he has sacrificed to help others.”
