Former Gamecock Ulric Jones has been added to the BC Lions Football Club, days before his debut in the XFL.
The BC Lions are apart of the West Division of the Canadian Football League based out of Vancouver.
The BC Lions ended last in the division with a 5-13 record(0-10 in the division).
The Lions also added wide-receiver Romell Guerrier and offensive lineman E.J. Price.
Sources close to Jones says that he opted out of his XFL contract to play in the CFL due to the “better professional opportunity and economic opportunities.”
Ulric Jones had been drafted by the St.Louis Battlehawks and was expected to start on Saturday against the Seattle Dragons at the XFL kickoff.
In an interview with Al Muskewitz of East Alabama Sports Today, Jones on his XFL career: “I’ve been at the lowest of levels and I’ve been at the highest of levels, so this XFL is just been another stepping stone to get back to the highest level”
Jones had saw no minutes with the Seattle Seahawks where his NFL career was cut short.
The former Gamecock won the 2017 Community Service Award while at the University of South Carolina.
The 2020 Canadian Football pre-season will start on May 24th, with the BC Lions facing off against Edmonton Eskimos on the 30th of May at 4 p.m. eastern time.
