Cardinals recall Gamecock Max Schrock following COVID outbreak among team

The announcement to add Max Schrock came today as the St. Louis Cardinals decided to bring four more players onto their roster.

Schrock’s addition to the roster will likely make him the third option at short-stop following Paul DeJong’s positive coronavirus results.

Schrock joins the team following a lackluster series with the Minnesota Twins right before the COVID-19 outbreak within the organization. While the players and staff affected seem to be fine, the organization has isolated the team and has suppressed the virus.

Schrock’s addition provides upside as he can play an array of positions and has been improving his offense. In Schrock’s last ten games he is averaging a .344 at the plate including an impressive 1.000 game and a couple of .500 games.

He is being pulled from the Memphis Redbirds, the Triple-A affiliate of St. Louis. If Schrock can show his skills in the middle infield with this opportunity then he could potentially see more playing time on the diamond by earning himself a spot on the full 28 man roster(since roster requirements are being lowered due to mass COVID-19 cases in the league).
