As if a brutal loss to Tennessee wasn’t enough, the Gamecocks now take the next week to go to Gainesville and play the most likely SEC East champs this year the Florida Gators.
That game will have to be without a couple of important players though and will require some players to step up and at least show some effort.
LB Sherrod Greene will miss the next several weeks of an already short season due to a fractured hip.
Damani Staley replaced Greene during the contest and will continue to get the start for the next foreseeable future.
Cornerback Israel Mukuamu left the game against the Volunteers with a groin injury but was practicing this week. Along with Jahmar Brown who was also injured and practiced, Muschamp said both men are day-to-day this week.
In addition to the few injured during the game, freshman defensive tackle Alex Huntley will likely be out again for an ankle injury suffered before the Tennessee game.
None of this is good news for the Gamecocks, as it is integral to have a full-strength team to stay competitive.
Although we still kick our selves in the end with miscues and play bad plays and execution. the Gamecocks still want to be competitive and give some teams a good game.
However, though the odds seemingly against us this season, all we can hope from here is to get these guys healthy and back on the field and hope for no more major injuries throughout the season.
