Top Performances From Gamecocks In The NFL: Week Three

The Gamecocks have proven they can produce talent at an elite level, and that shows every week in the NFL.

They’ve produced tons of defensive talent and a good amount of offensive talent.

Here’s what some of that talent did in Week three:

Hayden Hurst

Hurst only had one reception for one yard against the Bears, but that was for one touchdown.

This is important because Hurst is only 21st in receptions among tight ends this season, but he’s tied for second in touchdowns.

That means he’s a reliable target for Matt Ryan, especially in the redzone.

Johnathan Joseph

Joseph has found his new home with the Tennessee Titans, and he’s off to a good start.

The former Gamecock finished with seven tackles, one tackle for loss and an interception.

Joseph along with Jadaveon Clowney combined to help the Titans move up to 3-0.

Bryan Edwards

Edwards continues to show that he belongs in the starting lineup for Las Vegas.

The rookie finished with two receptions for 48 yards despite only having three targets.

Edwards will most likely miss week four, but he should continue to have a solid rookie year for the Raiders.

Mike Davis

Davis was impressive in his first start for the Panthers. He was a top fantasy performer with 46 rushing yards along with 45 receiving yards on eight receptions.

Why is this important?

Davis accounted for 36 percent of Teddy Bridgewater’s completions. Davis looks like a really good replacement for McCaffery, and he could see some production even when McCaffery returns.

Conclusion

There are still a lot of former Gamecocks dealing with injuries, but they’re all short term. Both Deebo Samuel and Alshon Jeffery will look to make their season debut this week. I’m also excited to see how Davis continues to perform in the absence of Christian McCaffery.
