Former Gamecock Mike Davis becomes RB1 for the Atlanta Falcons

Mike Davis, a former Gamecock, just signed with NFC South rival, the Atlanta Falcons.

Mike Davis has inked a two-year deal with the Atlanta Falcon for 3 million dollars guaranteed, with incentives to get him close to 5.5 million dollars.

After superstar Christian McCaffrey got injured, Mike Davis took the reigns of the running game for the Carolina Panthers, and he exceeded expectations. However, the Panthers didn’t change their gameplan so Davis absolutely shined as a rusher and as a receiver. Davis recorded 642 rushing yards and six touchdowns, along with 59 receptions logging 373 receiving yards with two receiving touchdowns.

Mike Davis joining the Falcons will extend their offensive game by bringing the 28 year old in. The Falcons are very much a passing team, but Davis coming in as the lead back will make Atlanta a much deadlier rushing team.

Davis now gets the chance to showcase his skills as the number rusher on an NFL roster. Atlanta isn’t exactly a playoff bound team so I’m not sure if this addition will make the team much better. I like this signing for the Falcons, it’s a really great pickup, I’m shocked more teams didn’t throw money in Davis’ direction.

Davis joining the Falcons gives him a chance to be the lead halfback and can be a great rusher in the league. I don’t think Davis makes them a much better team but they likely aren’t postseason bound.

Overall, great pickup by the Atlanta Falcons and Davis gets to stay in the southeast.
