South Carolina Gamecock fans came fired up to watch Women’s Basketball take down another SEC ranked opponent, the Ole Miss Rebels.
Colonial Life Arena had their first white out of the season and the crowd sure understood the assignment. There is never a moment of silence in this arena. It is non stop cheering, screaming, stomping, and sometimes booing at the opposition.
Felt a little extra disruptive tonight.

Whether you’re a student, alumni, or a fan of South Carolina Women’s Basketball, the exhilaration you feel watching the team exceeding your expectations is truly one of the best experiences.
I got the chance to interview a few fans at the game on, “Why do they love to watch the South Carolina Women’s Basketball team?”
Sophomore students Marissa Marks and Avery Boyle said, “It’s always fun to watch a winning team, especially when it’s a women’s team.”
Being a student here at South Carolina, I know singlehandedly that the best place to sit is in the student section. We are the most reassuring fans during the entire game. Every free throw, rebound, lay up, 3 pointer, or foul, you can always count on us to make sure the team can hear our support.
While sitting in the student section, I noticed three future Gamecocks sitting rows behind me. Eight year olds Charlotte Bennet, Margot Horne, and Lily Phillips were giving the student section a run for their money for who was the bigger Women’s Basketball fan.
Charlotte Bennet said, “I play basketball and I’m a cheerleader, I like to watch both of them.”
Margaret Horne said, “When they win it’s so fun to be here.”
Lily Phillips said, “I love watching them shoot 3 pointers.”
The amount of joy the girls were radiating talking about the team playing was so moving. This shows how much of an impact the Carolina Women’s Basketball team makes on young fans.
