Being a student here at the University of South Carolina is an experience of a lifetime. Getting the opportunity to be a part of the student section at a Carolina Women’s Basketball game while ESPN College Gameday was hosting is a day I’ll never forget!
For the first time in 11 years, ESPN College Gameday is covering a Women’s Basketball team. History was not only being made for the Gamecocks at Colonial Life Arena but for all Women’s Basketball across the board.
With a sold-out arena, Gamecock fans showed the Nation the best atmosphere in the country for the Gameday audience as well as the nationally televised game. Staley, the basketball team and the students helped to create a sandstorm that Tennesee could not get through.
The festivities at CLA were also a great way to celebrate our seniors on Senior Day.
Destanni Henderson is one of my favorite players on the team and it was so exciting watching her be recognized then playing her heart out on the field.
After a shaky start, the team started getting back into rhythm and worked together to achieve their 11th win against a ranked opponent.
Aliyah Boston was able to get her 19th double double in a row. Her work ethic is truly motivating to watch, and proved why she’s the leading candidate for Women’s Basketball Player of the Year.
We love Boston, not only because she’s the best, and represents our University with distinction, it’s because she clearly has a wonderful heart and loves leading the Gamecocks.
Sunday was a big day for the South Carolina’s Women’s Basketball team – we showed the country how great it is to be at the University of South Carolina and the win clinched at least a tie for the SEC Championship.
