Gamecocks Football 2022 Newcomers Review: Corey Rucker

Last Weekend, South Carolina picked up a big commitment from the transfer portal. Corey Rucker will be joining the wide receiver room after two years at Arkansas State.

Rucker will have three years of eligibility with his junior year coming up in the 2022 season. Rucker was not heavily recruited out of Yazoo County High School where he was a three-star recruit.

Arkansas State was horrendous last year, being a 2-10 team. However, Rucker had two very solid years at ASU.

He built on a pretty good freshman year with nearly 850 total yards and 10 touchdowns during his sophomore campaign.

Even with bad QB play, Rucker was still one of the best FCS level deep threats in the country. He is a big play waiting to happen whenever he runs a fly route.

The South Carolina offensive staff added another great weapon to the WR room. I believe adding Rucker solidified our WR room as being in the better half of the SEC.

We now have Wells Jr, Bell, Rucker, Vann, DK, and other young guys who I expect to take a step forward this season.

It is going to be fun to watch how the depth chart makes out during the rest of the spring.
